Periyar Tiger Reserve

Periyar Tiger Reserve, Thekkady is one of the finest wildlife reserves in India. Sprawled over an area of 925 Sq .km, the Periyar Tiger Reserve is abundantly blessed in flora and fauna and is home to extremely rare species of plants and animal life. Efficiently guarded and managed, the reserve has succeded in maintaining a consistent population of it's namesake animal, the tiger.

Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary

Periyar wildlife sanctuary is South India's most popular wildlife sanctuary. Describing it as a surplus of nature's splendor would be an understatement. The region is home to a vast number of plant and animal species, some endemic to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Situated on the banks of the artificially created Periyar Lake, elephants, sambars, tigers, gaurs, lion tailed macaques and Nilgiri langurs roam the terrains of the sanctuary. Periyar is also the habitat of the elusive Nilgiri Tahr, rarely spotted venturing into human accessible areas.
